The Foundation of Our Success

  • Gordon Rush, Founder

    The true cornerstone of this company is founder, Gordon Rush, who has anchored us for 25 years, and whose leadership is paramount to our success.

    Since 1987, Gordon’s experience has spanned all aspects of construction, including land acquisition and development of commercial projects in the Puget Sound Region. He contributes an extensive range of knowledge about site and project feasibility, site development, and value engineering and always employs a hands-on approach to management. His ability to provide creative solutions to difficult design and budgetary issues leads to profitable projects. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Western Washington University.

  • Matt Smith, President

    Matt first joined The Rush Companies in 1992 as a field technician, making him a true testament to the endless opportunities Rush can provide to each and every team member. As President, Matt's primary focus is overseeing and managing all current and future real estate developments. Secondarily, he loves to get his hands into many other areas of the business including property acquisition, financing, marketing, leasing and more.

    After graduating from Washington State University with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 1997, Matt was a pilot with Alaska Airlines for seven years. During that time he also had his own real estate development and investment business. He re-joined Rush again in 2007, bringing his comprehensive experience to this leadership role.

  • Chris DeWald, Vice President, Rush Development

    As Vice President of Development, Chris is able to use his 30+ years of construction experience in working with architects and engineers to design and permit the next exciting Rush project. Chris works closely with other Team members early on in the concept stage during site acquisition and project development to prepare preliminary proforma budgets and project cost analysis. Chris leads the project through the design development and entitlement process, and then acts as Owner’s Rep during the construction phase of the project, through close out and hand off to Rush Property Management. He received his B.S. in Construction Engineering and Management from Purdue University.

  • Devin Page, Vice President, Rush Commercial

    Born and raised in Washington, Devin graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor's degree in Physiology. As a Construction Manager, Devin has overseen over $150MM in commercial construction work in the Puget Sound Region. Devin is an expert in providing cost estimating, value engineering, and project management services for health care, commercial office, multifamily, retail, education, and hospitality markets. His primary focus has been business development, operational practices, overall regional strategy, project execution, and client relations.

    Devin is actively involved with the Boys & Girls Clubs organization, and enjoys participating in industry and community events. Devin lives with his family in Gig Harbor, WA.

  • Lindy Harvey, Vice President, Rush Properties - Multi-Family

    Lindy Harvey has 25+ years of professional experience directing property management operations in multifaceted real estate areas throughout the country. She began her interest in marketing real estate while attended Cornish Institute of Allied Arts and has earned the distinction of providing highly innovative and creative multi-family leasing strategies. Lindy comes to Rush after working for several years as a Regional Vice President in the national REIT environment where she developed and implemented extensive training and operational initiatives in multifamily and mixed use buildings. During that time she managed several new development lease ups in Washington, Oregon, Northern California and Colorado.

    Lindy has also volunteered for the last 21 years as a track event coordinator for the Washington State Special Olympics.
  • Scott Walker, Vice President, Rush Residential

    Scott joined our team in 2011 and brings to Rush a variety of relevant experience. After a successful career with Weyerhaeuser Company spanning 18 years, Scott left and went on to manage his own residential construction projects and later managed two other residential building companies. With a degree in Accounting from PLU, he brings to our company a wealth of experience in Real Estate, Sales, and Supplier and Construction Management disciplines. Scott and his team manage all aspects of the Residential Portfolio covering a variety of product types and communities.

  • Ben Tweet, CCIM, Vice President, Rush Properties – Commercial Operations

    Ben compliments the Rush team with over a decade of commercial real estate experience across all phases of development, leasing, investment and management with product experience spanning retail, office and industrial segments. A native of the Pacific Northwest, Ben graduated magna cum laude from the Michael G. Foster School of Business at the University of Washington in Seattle.

  • Debra Gurr, Controller

    Debra officially became the Controller of The Rush Companies in 2010. Prior to that she was a software consultant for over ten years for Rush, where she periodically assisted with accounting software implementations, special projects, and filled in for departing controllers. She comes to us with almost thirty years of accounting experience in various industries. Debra ran her own consulting business for fourteen years, during which time she set up accounting systems for over 100 construction firms in Washington and Alaska and trained accounting personnel at all levels. She has parlayed this experience into running an accounting department of ten employees who process and track the finances of over ninety companies.

  • Jillian Sullivan, Human Resources Director

    Jillian was brought aboard the Rush team in 2013 to build, implement, and maintain a comprehensive, first-in-class human resources program to support our growing family of companies and employees. She started her career in human resources at an international architecture firm headquartered in Bellevue, Washington before moving on to a regional engineering, planning, and environmentally sciences firm with offices throughout the Western United States. Jillian has gained valuable experience throughout her career and has done everything from event planning to strategic planning. She received her B.A. in Psychology from Western Washington University and is a certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR®).
