We’re proud to share that The Rush Companies has been honored with the Puget Sound Business Journal’s 2025 Corporate Philanthropy Community Champion Award—an achievement that reflects not just what we build, but who we are.
On May 14th, Danny Kruse, Vice President of Rush Property Management, accepted the award on behalf of our founder, Gordon Rush and the entire Rush team at a celebratory luncheon in Seattle.
“To our incredible team at Rush—this award belongs to you,” Danny shared. “It’s your heart, your time, your passion, and your willingness to roll up your sleeves that fuels initiatives like our Rush Gives committee, which allocates funds and leads our team member volunteerism. Whether it’s volunteering at Beer & Bites, helping with the Great Strides Walk for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, or building birdhouses with second graders—you show up. You care. And you make a difference.”
This recognition celebrates the true impact of these efforts—and the people behind them.
At Rush, “Building an Exceptional Future, Together” reflects a deep commitment to people and place. It’s why we invest wholeheartedly in our projects and in our communities, knowing that true success is measured not only by what we build, but by the lives we help lift along the way.
A powerful example of this commitment is our employee-led Rush Gives program, which channels both funding and volunteer support toward causes that matter deeply to our team and our neighbors. Composed entirely of Rush team members, the Rush Gives committee allocates a minimum of $90,000 each year to local nonprofits. To date, The Rush Companies has contributed more than $1 million to the communities we call home.
At the awards luncheon, Danny was joined by Sally Glover, Executive Director of the South Sound CARE Foundation, who shared a heartfelt introduction about our long-standing partnership. Rush’s continued support has helped expand access to cutting-edge cancer treatments and clinical trials right here in the South Puget Sound region.
A major driver of that support is Beer & Bites—South Sound CARE’s annual community fundraising event—co-founded in 2013 by Dr. Frank Senecal and Gordon Rush, who also serves as an Emeritus Board Member of South Sound CARE.
Since its inception, Beer & Bites has raised more than $10 million for life-changing cancer research and care. And behind the scenes? Our Rush team always shows up—volunteering, bartending, promoting, setting up, cleaning up—doing whatever it takes to make the event a success, year after year.
We’re deeply honored to receive this recognition from the Puget Sound Business Journal—and even more grateful for the people who make it possible: our dedicated team, trusted partners, valued clients, and the vibrant communities we’re proud to serve.
To our fellow honorees, congratulations! It’s a privilege to stand alongside organizations that are driving meaningful change across the Puget Sound region. The impact we create—together—is rooted in shared values, collective action, and a steadfast belief in the power of community.
We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished together—and excited for all that’s still to come.
