Rush Commercial Construction, Inc., in partnership with owner and operator Dobler Management Company, Inc. (DMCI), is pleased to announce the opening of Fryar Flats, a new six-story multifamily community in downtown Sumner.
A New Multifamily Community in Sumner, WA
Located at 1228 Fryar Avenue in downtown Sumner, Fryar Flats is a 176,185-square-foot mixed-use community that includes 128 apartment homes, 989 square feet of street-level commercial space, and secure underground parking with EV charging stations.
Designed by Casey + DeChant Architects, LLC and constructed by Rush Commercial Construction, Inc., the building offers studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom residences that balance comfort, efficiency, and contemporary Pacific Northwest design. Interiors feature expansive windows, durable plank flooring, stainless steel appliances, full-size washers and dryers, and custom wood cabinetry.

Thoughtfully Designed for Comfort, Connection, and Well-Being
Residents have access to a rooftop lounge and terrace with views of Mount Rainier, as well as a fitness center, game room, rooftop pet area, dedicated pet wash station, and controlled-access entry supported by 24-hour emergency maintenance.
“Fryar Flats was realized through strong collaboration between DMCI, our design partners, and Rush Commercial,” said Tim Callahan, Senior Project Manager at Rush Commercial Construction. “We are pleased to help deliver a dynamic multifamily community that contributes to the continued growth and vitality of downtown Sumner.”

Situated along the White River, Fryar Flats places residents within walking distance of Sound Transit commuter rail service,
local shops, restaurants, parks, and everyday amenities while offering convenient access to destinations throughout the

“Our family has past roots in Sumner’s farming community, and we wanted Fryar Flats to reflect and honor the city’s
agricultural history,” said Kathy Dobler, Founder and President of DMCI. “With support from the Sumner Historical Society,
we incorporated historical photographs throughout the community that capture Sumner’s farming heritage.”
