Featuring Kyle Agnew, Quality Control Manager
When Kyle Agnew joined Rush in September 2020, he was an experienced Senior Project Engineer looking for something his previous company could not offer: a place where his voice would be heard and his ideas would matter. A few years later, he holds a role that did not exist before he arrived, Quality Control Manager for Rush Commercial, a position Rush created after leaders saw where his strengths and passion naturally led.

From a Big Pond to a Place Where Your Voice Matters
Before Rush, Kyle spent six years at a large builder as a Senior Project Engineer working on medical facility projects. He gained valuable experience, but over time he was ready for a change.
“I often felt like a small fish in a very large pond, and at times it seemed like my voice and ideas were not fully heard or valued,” he says.
What he wanted next was simple but important: a place where he could contribute meaningfully, grow professionally, and feel that his input genuinely mattered. Rush gave him exactly that, and it marked the start of a new chapter where he felt empowered to make an impact.
Turning a Passion for Problem Solving into a Career
At Rush, Kyle quickly noticed a difference. His opinions and ideas were heard and taken seriously, and that trust had a real effect on his confidence and motivation.
He had always enjoyed digging into complex issues and working through them until he reached a solid solution. Over time, he gravitated toward quality, closeout, and problem solving. That passion did not go unnoticed, and it ultimately led to his promotion into the role of Quality Control Manager, where he focuses on making sure projects are completed to the highest standard and closed out successfully for clients.

The Projects That Shaped His Path
Two moments stand out for Kyle as career defining. The first came on the Proctor Flats project, where he managed the punch process and closed out units with the owner. A member of the owner’s team noticed his attention to detail and shared that feedback with Rush leadership. That recognition meant a great deal to him and confirmed that his effort was being seen.
The second came on the 23 Broadway Apartments project, where the punch and closeout process again went smoothly. In fact, the project closed out with zero owner punch items, a strong accomplishment for the entire team.
After seeing how much Kyle enjoyed managing punch and closeout, a Rush leader approached him about shifting into a role focused specifically on closing buildings out successfully. That conversation led to the creation of the Quality Control Manager position, the role Kyle holds today. Rush supported him through the entire transition, and he describes it as his dream job.

What Surprised Kyle About Rush
Many companies talk about their values. What surprised Kyle was how consistently Rush lives them.
“When you walk onto a Rush jobsite, you can see the Rush values being carried out in the way people work, communicate, and support each other,” he says.
A few other things stood out. Rush’s turnover rate sits at roughly 1 percent, a number that says a lot about how people feel about working at Rush. Also, the company offers team members a rare benefit: the ability to invest in The Rush Companies own development projects, creating another way to share in the success of the work everyone contributes to.
Why Kyle Stays at Rush
For Kyle, the reasons to stay are clear. Rush has given him the tools, trust, and support to succeed, along with recognition for his contributions and real opportunities to grow. His work matters here, and his growth is supported at every step.
Kyle shared that “Rush is a place where I can continue to grow, contribute, and be part of a team that genuinely values its employees.”
Advice for Anyone Considering Rush
Kyle’s advice is direct. If you would be a good fit for the culture and values, he recommends Rush without hesitation.
“Rush invests in its people, provides opportunities to grow, and fosters a culture where team members genuinely support one another,” he says. “If you’re looking for a company where your work matters and where you can grow professionally while being part of a strong team, Rush is a great place to be.”
